Thaw season is here & so is a new menu! Each day, the sun rises a little earlier and burns just a little warmer, as snow flurries (and March "blizzards") come and go. Patience eludes us: we’re grateful for frozen vegetables, and for fruit flown in from far-off shores, but we long to eat fresh berries straight from the vine and pick herbs right from our gardens. Happily, we have local & organic eggs a-plenty, and the crew in our kitchen, led by Chef Marshall Paulsen, are continually creative with our store crops, pickles, preserves, and the frozen bounty from the last growing season. Thanks to their efforts, there’s still plenty of local goodness in store for you on our Thaw Menu!
You'll find many new dishes this season, including a sweet potato, brown rice & kale Savory Waffle with grapefruit preserves, poppy seeds & shallot cilantro butter (plus bacon lardons, sunny-side egg, sunflower seeds, maple syrup, and powdered sugar!)—served all day, every day! We're layering house-cured Peterson Limousin Beef with house-made Russian dressing & sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and a sunny-side egg on our new Sunflower Rye Bread for the Open-faced Reuben. There's also a bevy of new baked goodies for you to try, including a gluten free Fudge Brownie, Pecan Tart with lemon curd, and don't forget our infamous Key Lime Pie!
THIS Friday is the last day to order your whole (11-inch) Key Lime Pie in time for Easter weekend—they're available gluten-free, too! Order online by 9pm on Friday, March 25 for pick-up at the cafe on either Saturday 3/26 or Sunday 3/27 (between 8am–9pm). As always, we bake from scratch with organic butter, organic free-range eggs, fresh, local, quality ingredients, and lots of LOVE!

Meet one of our newest farm friends: Seeds Farm, local growers of over 100 varieties of vegetables as well as pasture-raised pork. Stop by the cafe to learn more about their 2016 CSA program (the cafe is a drop-site!) and savor a sample!
LSP Family Farm Breakfast

We're honored to have our very own Chef Marshall in the kitchen for the 11th annual Land Stewardship Project (LSP) Family Farm Breakfast and Day at the Capitol! Gather at 7am at Christ Lutheran Church (105 University Ave. West, St. Paul) with fellow good food citizens, farming advocates, legislators, and LSP members from around the state for a delicious meal of farm-fresh food. After breakfast, at 9am, walk with us to the Capitol to talk with lawmakers about LSP's 2016 legislative priorities. Breakfast is $10 (you can pay at the door). Join us in making positive change for family farms in Minnesota!
